You will have to replace it or things will get much worse for you.

You might want to check a salvage yard. with the number of low miles cars that ended up in those places you might get a good cat for little money.

I agree that removing the cats will cause more trouble than it's worth. some brands you can program the cats out of the computer. Our cars you cannot. So your car will be in cat failure throwing codes and will start to run pretty bad. I don't know of any high flow cats for our cars. But maybe there ...

Most here are dyi people so giving a cost is pretty much impossible. You will just have to go someplace and get an estimate.

Removing the seat is very easy. 5 bolts and a couple of wire plugs.

As far as what is wrong? Sounds like you have something that came loose.

many times hand tools still are the best tool to use.

Just make sure when using an impact wrench you use sockets and extensions designed for that. Or you won't have sockets very long.
