Ok, I know that Dale (Songman) is busy dealing with stuff and because of that, I'm going to get this thing started for this year.

So here is the deal. It's not just for Fiero owners (although, after last year's raffle....I am one, got a great 1985 model on my fridge!!).
The weekend is about having fun! It's also about riding up/down one of the most beautiful areas in the world...and if you got a Sebring convertible, well you can enjoy it with the top down!
The group is a great bunch of people, even if their cars mostly have roofs. This will be my second "California Coast Run".
It's also about a really great charity, St. Jude's, which will get the proceeds from the raffle.

7th Annual California Coast Run

When: October 9-11, 2009
Where: San Simeon, CA

Hotel Reservations
Courtesy Inn of San Simeon - http://www.courtesyinns.com
9450 Castillo Drive
San Simeon, CA 93452
1-800-555-5773
Ask for Manish and say you are with Fiero group for $99 for the weekend rate.

Event Schedule

Friday, October 9
- Arrive Friday and check into hotel.
- Meet in pool area at 6PM for meet n' greet.
- Dinner at Main Street Grill in Cambria at 7:30PM
Friday is a "nice if you can make it" kind of schedule.... Last year I got in around 10 pm and just crashed.

Saturday, October 10
- Start lining up cars at 7:45AM.
- Driver's Meeting at 8:15AM
- Depart hotel at 8:30AM
- Lunch at Big Sur River Inn at 11:30AM
- Depart Big Sur River Inn at 1:30PM
- Arrive at Big Sur Jade Festival at 2PM (Live music, food, vendors, demonstrations - a real hippie fest!)
- Depart Big Sur Jade Festival at 4PM (group leaves at 4PM. Leave at your leisure.)
- Arrive at Courtesy Inn at 5PM.
- Costume Party and Catered Dinner in pool area at 7PM.
- Charity raffle at 8PM.
- San Simeon Beach Bar & Grill from 10:00 till whenever...

Sunday, October 11
- Depart for breakfast in Morro Bay at 10AM.

We added the Big Sur Jade Festival into the lineup this year. This is a great event with lots of great food, entertainment, and vendors. Because of adding this stop into the Coast Run, our theme this year will be a hippie theme (as you may have noticed by the t-shirt design). Start planning now and get your costume ready for the costume party and catered dinner on Saturday night. A prize will be awarded for the best costume.
We end the day early on Sunday to allow people plenty of time to see the area attractions and still get home safely.

Driving distance to San Simeon from major cities:
San Diego to San Simeon - 360 miles (6 hours)
Los Angeles to San Simeon - 245 miles (4 hours)
San Francisco to San Simeon - 240 miles (4 hours)
Sacramento to San Simeon - 300 miles (5 hours)
Redding to San Simeon - 440 miles (7 hours)
Reno, NV to San Simeon - 440 miles (7 hours)
Las Vegas, NV to San Simeon - 435 miles (7 hours)
Tuscon, AZ to San Simeon - 725 miles (13 hours)

We have a great time on this event and have had people come from as far away as Arizona and Colorado. We try to make this an affordable event so people can come have a good time without putting a strain on their bank account. The hotel helps out with a $99 rate for the entire event weekend. Our catered dinner on Saturday night is all you can eat and is only $25 per person. With those prices we can still afford to put gas in the cars!

More event info is forthcoming on http://www.fiero-performance.com but last year's event info is still there at this point. Go ahead and go check it out and see all the pictures from past events.

Woo Hoo Coast Run! I was just thinking about it. We made the 5th one a couple of years ago and had a blast. Missed last year as we were in Omaha Ne. Now we live in Tucson AZ and it's within possabillity. It's early this yr, but we might be able to make it. We were the only Sebring 2 yrs ago, it would be cool to see some more. Dale replaced the Fiero with a Sebring Conv. on our sweatshirts, looks good! Made out like bandits at the raffle including a dicast red Fiero and a painting (by Dale's wife I think) of a blue Fiero. By the way, add to your your mileage chart, it's 725 miles from Tucson. That year we had lunch by Monterey and the drive back was a real hot run for a lot of us. I proved a Sebring can stay on the bumper of a Fiero all the way.

Sounds like fun. It's a great ride up the coast, top up or down. I like the idea, Two different cars, both the butt of jokes and scorn, yet, they are proving themselves worthy due to styling and the care of owners. Both on their way to collectibility in spite of the catcalls.
Motor on!

I know it's a ride for you Gart and rktect.....but come on over!

I was the only Sebring vert last year and it was fun to cruise up/down Hwy 1 with the speedy bunch of Fieros. Yep, I had no problem keeping up with them either. ;)

I added Tuscon to the mileage chart....and rktect...you're a few miles closer. ;)

All you locals to San Simeon and those in SoCal/Bay area/and the San Joaquin Valley, come on and join us!

Well it sounds like fun! I think my wife and I will be going, just have make sure she has the time off. So Yak, you won't have to be the only Sebring there!

On another note, I am realy hoping we can get the Sebrings rear bumper fixed before the event(a little fight with the gerage door) if not the touch up paint will have too do.....

Excellent Jaime! Be prepared to meet some cool people. Last year's event was a whole lotta fun!

Maybe you'll be a Fiero owner before the end of the weekend? Meet my 1985 Pontiac Fiero GT:

It's in mint condition! 0 miles!! Only a few owners? LOL

Cool!

Rumor is that the available rooms for this event are going down fast (may only be 1 left as of tonight). While you'd still be welcome if you don't stay at the Courtesy Inn, the price for the room will be higher if you stay elsewhere.

Unless of course you're a local and just drive in for the run and raffle/dinner on Saturday. Then you don't need a room. ;)

I have been contemplating on sending my surrogate this year but I've got to check with him and see if he and Ranger are up too it. It's not a big lead time thing for him since he's got to go to Avila Beach to lay his head down. ;)

I'll let you know. ;) Just don't have that spare Cal-vert handy though. I am working on one. ;)
