I got my OEM windscreen today (1DN90TRMAA). I was surprised at how nice it looks installed. By the typical aerial shot I have seen you do not know. I was expecting something like a modified lawn chair. The first thing I noticed when installed, is that the upright part firmly locks. I had seen threads where side wind blows them down in earlier gens. The second thing I noticed, is that the upright part is not easily folded down without removal. Are they all like this? There are two part numbers. 1DN900X9AC and 1DN90TRMAA.
BTW. We can now do the mandatory COSTCO runs when out of town without a 50 pack of toilet paper hitting an outlaw biker in the face.

Really Nice having it huh? I don't know how I drove without it the first few months I owned the car. The differance is like day and night.

Do they look like the Gen 2 windscreens?

Can you post pics?

Here are some pictures. Keep in mind that I have never seen a windscreen before.

In the second picture, the spring is up top out of the picture. The pin has to be pushed in. To get both pins, you have to remove the windscreen. No big deal, as it takes only seconds.

P.S. You can fold the vertical part down but it takes some effort. Is this torture to the parts in the long run?

make sure that you adjust the parts that slide into the holes so that the locking mechanisms will lock. if not, the windscreen will fall out while driving and scratch the plastic siding on the interior of the car.

ask my mother how she knows that :?

I noticed the adjustment screws turn really freely. Is it a good idea to put a dab of Loctite on the threads when properly adjusted?

from our manufacturing experiances do not use regular loctite on plastic as it will deteriorate the plastic. I had a whole dash come apart doing this. Upper part was metal and the bosses were plastic and loctite was used. In about a week the bosses split and cracked. Loctite does make a loctite to be used on plasitc. But after you get the screen in the right position buy some gorilla super glue and just put a tiny dab on the screw and tighten it. Worked many times for us.

Excellent information. I think you just saved me from destroying the thing. If we meet, I owe you a cold one. I also thought of a dab of RTV. Just enough to keep it from "self adjusting" on the road (see windscreen hits outlaw biker in face :uzi:). If the car changes width, it is easy to redo it.

That's cause it DOES fit better than the one on your car.

3G's were designed to have the windscreen/stop as an option. 1G/2G's needed some mods for mounting points, etc. Because each 1G/2G is a "custom" job...it's not as nice as OEM.

Looks great Arne!

I'm going to install the windblox thing I bought and have it in place for Saturday's run in Merced. Will be the first time I've tried it.

Very true statement. I have adjusted mine each spring to make sure it has the proper fit. Not much of a adjustment. But this year it was 2 turns CCW to lock the pins in place..
